St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Family Carnival draws more than 12,000 to Bear parish

Bear, DE — After drawing 12,300 attendees, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Family Carnival concluded on Saturday, July 20. This year marked the 25th anniversary of the summer celebration at the Bear parish.

“What a week!” says Rich Yotter, a member of the carnival’s organizing committee. “We promote a safe family environment at the Seton Carnival, and our terrific volunteers ensured an awesome experience.” More than 750 volunteers donated their time during the six-day event, which raises money for St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.

Guests feasted on seafood from Sansone’s Seafood Market, enjoyed desserts from Rita’s Water Ice, and lounged in “The Dugout” sports bar. The Carnival featured live broadcasts from WSTW, WJBR and WDEL. The week was also packed with musical performances — including Dub Glenn, Three Sheets, and The Juveniles — and events — including a fireworks show, a martial arts demonstration, and a Disney World raffle valued at $4,500. The carnival concluded on Saturday with the traditional workers’ mass and an Italian family dinner.

Thank you to the 2013 Carnival sponsors. The Seton Family Carnival returns in 2014 from July 14 to 19 for its 26th year. Visit the carnival website for future volunteer opportunities.
