Aloysius Butler & Clark Announces Leadership Changes, Including Retirement of CEO Tom McGivney
WILMINGTON, Del. (Sept. 21, 2022) — Aloysius Butler & Clark (AB&C), one of the largest independent full-service marketing communications agencies in the region, today announced that CEO Tom McGivney will be retiring on Sept. 30, 2022. In addition, AB&C is implementing several leadership changes to ensure a seamless transition after McGivney’s departure, as well as to support the projected short- and long-term growth of the agency.
Effective Oct. 1, 2022, Paul Pomeroy, AB&C’s current president, will assume the role of CEO and be responsible for revenue, strategic growth and long-range business planning. Linda Shopa, current chief financial officer, will take on the additional role of chief operating officer and be responsible for long-range fiscal planning and agency operations. Steve Merino, chief creative officer, will continue his current responsibilities for overseeing the quality of the agency’s creative product, as well as providing strategic leadership and vision.
During McGivney’s 38 years with AB&C, he served the agency and its clients in multiple leadership roles, including the creative and management sides of the business.
“I have tremendous pride in everything AB&C has accomplished and continues to accomplish daily,” said McGivney. “We’ve been engaged in a great deal of planning over the past year to solidify a strategy that will bring AB&C’s vision for the future to fruition. I’ve never been more confident in the strength of the agency—and in our ability to provide our clients with the very best service, creative thinking and guidance.”
Over the past several years, annual growth at AB&C has been increasing steadily. In response, AB&C signed a lease in June for more than 6,000 square feet of office space at 123 South Broad Street, in the heart of Center City Philadelphia. In addition to increasing its previous Philadelphia space by more than 2,000 square feet, AB&C remains committed to maintaining a strong footprint in Wilmington, Delaware, and Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. In April, AB&C also acquired Mangos, an agency based in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, adding to a roster of clients served throughout the country and internationally.
